Malnutrition is a disease with treatment:prepared therapeutic food.

The lack of essential nutrients is very serious for children in developmental age. The critical age ranges from 6 months to 2 years. But children up to 5 years of age (as well as adolescents, pregnant or lactating women, the elderly and the chronically ill) are also very vulnerable.

With your help, 204 children with malnutrition will receive therapeutic nutritional treatment.

Fight against child malnutrition
Campaign objectives

Reduce infant mortality and morbidity caused by malnutrition.

Description

In the north-east of the country, there are more than 1.7 million internally displaced people, and about 80% of them are in the state of Borno. Thousands of people have died in the combats and a much larger number of them because of the deadly combination of malnutrition, measles and malaria.

In Borno and Yobe, MSF attends to the population that cannot cultivate or fish due to movement restrictions, which exacerbates their dependence on humanitarian aid. The teams distribute food, carry out nutritional examinations and provide attention to malnourished children in the hospital and ambulatory therapeutic nutrition centres in these areas.

Activities
  • Attend to the population in MSF hospitals and primary care clinics.
  • Control malnutrition.
  • Conduct vaccination campaigns.

Who will benefit?

Doctors Without Borders will be able to provide therapeutic nutritional treatment to 204 children with malnutrition.
