All hospitalized children and adolescents deserve to have a stay as pleasant as possible within the situation they are living. During that time, they endure uncomfortable and complicated situations for them, and because of that Theodora Foundation works to de-dramatize, alleviate and get the patients the feeling of being children again. They manage to break the daily routine of the hospital through magic, stories, music and clown art, and give children a reason to smile.
It has been scientifically proven that laughter is a very important healing element in the treatment of diseases. Laughter and a good mood produce beneficial and quickly appreciable effects. The hospital artists, trained professionals work in coordination with the hospital staff to adapt the visit to the mental and clinical state of each child.
With the total funds collected for this project, the Theodora Foundation will hold different sessions in which the hospital artists, the Doctors Smile, will visit children and young people admitted to 23 hospitals throughout Spain during this Christmas.
- Visit 320 children treated in the 23 hospitals in Spain where Theodora works. The visits will be made individually, room by room, so that, through improvisation, magic and games get both the child and their families evaded for a few moments of the situation they are living.
- Accompany the children and their families throughout all the phases of the surgical interventions.
With your help, 320 children and adolescents hospitalized in 23 hospitals in Spain will be able to receive visits from the Smile Doctors, which will allow them to break with the routine of the hospital and experience a happier Christmas.
